Public Sewer Flooding
Responsibility for public sewers rests with Thames Water, report any issues with the sewers to them. For flooding issues regarding burst water mains please contact Essex and Suffolk Water. For other issues, visit the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham website to find out where the responsibility lies. Due to two sewage treatment centres nearby, Beckton Sewage Treatment Works and Crossness Sewage Treatment Works, and public sewer issue must be dealt with as a public health issue.
Road or Pavement Drains Blocked
Please report any issues with highway gullies or drains to the Barking & Dagenham council, they do however recommend that you monitor the situation before getting in touch; allow time for the drain to do its job before reporting any issue. Hazardous defects are usually dealt with within 24 hours, whilst serious and other issues will take up to 7 days.
Blocked Property Drains
If you are a council tenant, please refer to the Council website in order to report a blocked sewer or drain. If you are a private tenant please speak to your landlord before dealing with the drainage issue. If you are a homeowner, we are more than happy to assist you in dealing with a blocked drain on your property.
